Matches:

Athea N.S. 2–9  Ballingarry N.S. 4–3

Athea National school football team played a very exciting draw with Ballingarry on Thursday last in Athea. The teams couldn’t be separated with the full time score 2–7 to 3–4 and after extra time in which both teams added a further 2 points they were still level. As the saying goes a draw was a fair result as neither team deserved to loose this rip roaring contest. We were behind on two occasions by 5 points but the team never gave up, showing great heart to claw their way back into the game. This was epitomised by Andy Ahern who played himself to a standstill in a man of the match performance at centre half back. The replay is on in Ballingarry on this Monday November 5th and we will be looking for some parents to help with transport, the panel are very well behaved and a credit to their parents and teacher Miss Prendiville.

There will be a training session on Sunday 4th at 12 noon at the High Field. Panel:  Cathal O’Brien, Ciara O’Shea, Seamus Leahy, Grace Ryan, Andy Ahern, David O’Sullivan, Micheál Dalton, (Captain), Ciana Murphy, Joseph Dalton, Rachel Greaney, John Sexton, Claire Carmody, Sinead Hunt, Ciara Hunt and Aibhilín Murphy.

For the training on Sunday Jamie O’Mahony and Alex McEldowney are also asked to attend.
Well done to Micheál Dalton, Glenagower who was picked on The West Limerick Primary schools football panel for the up coming Sarsfield cup, this is a great and well deserved honour for Micheál who is a very dedicated footballer, we wish him the best of luck. Well done also to Ciara O’Shea, Templeathea, who was picked on the girls West Limerick Primary Schools football panel. Ciara is an excellent footballer as she has shown throughout the year and we wish her the best of luck also.
