The very first meeting of the Clounleharde School Reunion group will be held in the Killeaney AFC clubhouse on this Thursday night at 8.15 pm. All interested persons are welcome. Pass on the word. It is thought that a reunion might be organised for next Summer.
Even though there is a “Sale Agreed” sign up in Carrig shop there is no sign of it opening yet but no doubt it will be up and going in the near future. It is good to see that there are still people out there willing to take a chance in spite of recessions and economic difficulties.
Our President Michael D Higgins is a great one for saying that creativity is very important in our lives and I agree with him. We must get away from all the millions of problems around us and no better way than through the imagination whether it be using art or literature or singing or stories. I am playing my part by publishing a book of poetry in November. “The Purple Pencil”, a collection of reflective poems celebrating everyday life published by Red Hen Publishing, Duagh, will be launched by Nóirín Ní Riain in Newcastle West Library on Friday November 16th at 8pm. No doubt I will remind you all nearer to the date.
I believe it is 12 weeks to Christmas – that is a scary thought but no doubt it is an exciting thought for others who love the thought of all that shopping etc. No doubt Santa is getting all excited too. So are all those families whose loved ones have emigrated and who are looking forward to seeing them back at Christmas.
