MAURICE CAPS LEAGUE OF IRELAND DEBUT WITH A GOAL
Having recently come to the attention of their coaching staff at League of Ireland side Wexford Youths and clearly impressing at trials as well as a challenge game in which he also scored Maurice met with Wexford Youths supremo Mick Wallace before signing for their U-19s. There was more good news at the weekend when he was included in the Wexford Youths squad for their opening League of Ireland U-19 game against Limerick which was played in Annacotty. Indeed Maurice was included in their starting eleven and gave a very accomplished display against what was a very strong Limerick which the homeside won 6-2. Wexford trailed by a goal at half time side before Limerick extended it with two quick goals early in the second half. Wexford were back in it when Maurice capped off a fine few weeks when he got his first ever League of Ireland goal to give Wexford a way back into the game. Alas it was the more experienced Limerick that pulled away to take the points.
No doubt a disappointing result but Maurice has come a long way from his early soccer days with the blue and white of Athea Utd to playing League of Ireland with Wexford Youths and capping off his debut with a goal.
Again well done Maurice and we hope to see a few more goals from you during the course of the coming season. The very best of luck as always from all here at Athea Utd AFC.
NOTE:
Wexford Youths next game will be their first home game of the season when they play Galway Utd at Ferrycarrig Park next Sunday at 2pm.

Matches:
U12’s
We travelled to Adare on Thursday evening last to play our final league game against a very strong local side. We played well early on scoring two great points from Shane Dalton, but Adare then put us under pressure and we conceded a few goals despite the best efforts of our defense. Two goals just before half time brought us back into the game but Adare kept up the pressure in the second half and ran out easy winners at the final whistle.
