Autumn Wedding
The marriage took place on Friday of last week of Robert Collins, son of Paddy and Kathleen Collins, Knocknagorna and Elaine Tierney, daughter of John Chris and Noreen Tierney, Templeathea. The ceremony, with Nuptial Mass, was performed by Fr. Patrick Bowen PP Athea. The bridesmaids were Norma Brouder, Marie O’Connor and Katie Scanlon, friends of the bride. Tom Collins, brother of the groom was best man and the groomsmen were Gerard Collins and Padraig Mullane. The flower girl was Clodagh Holly McCarthy and the pageboy was Jamie Collins. The first reading was by Mary Ita Casey and the second reading was by John Marley. Offertory procession was done by Noreen Tierney and Kathleen Collins and the Reflection was read by Miriam O’Shaughness. The prayers of the faithful were read by Katie Collins, Kay Harnett, Shane Tierney, Eoin McCarthy, Eibhlin O’Donnell, Deirdre O’Riordan, Neilus O’Connor. Music by Bridget McCarthy and Elaine Foley.
The reception was held at the Ballygarry House Hotel near Tralee and was very much enjoyed by both families, relatives and all their guests. The honey is being spent abroad after which the newly married couple will return to live in their new home in Knocknagorna. Congratulations and best wishes to Robert and Elaine for their happiness in married life.
Death of John R. Kelly
The death occurred during the week of John R. Kelly, Rooskagh. Deceased had been in failing health for the past few years and had been cared for in St. Catherine’s Nursing Home in Newcastle West. The removal from Riedy’s Funeral Home, Newcastle West to Carrigkerry Church on Friday evening was attended by a large number of people from far and near who called to pay their respects and sympathise with the family. There was also a good attendance at the funeral to Ardagh Cemetery on Saturday following Requiem Mass. Sympathy is extended to his family and other relatives. May his soul rest in peace.
