Windmills Project Going Ahead in Park

It’s all systems go in Park where the construction of  10 windmills commenced this week. This is good news for the area as it provides employment for local people and gives a bit of a boost to the economy. It is also good for the parish as Airtricity gives a lot of money to local organisations under their Community Funding Programme when the windmills are up and running.

 Athea Community Council Ltd A.G.M.

Our A.G.M. takes place on Monday, September 17th at 8pm in the Top of the Town. Everybody is welcome to come along.

 The Tomathon

Don’t forget that the Tomathon starts out from the Community Hall on Tuesday morning next, September, 11th at 11am. This 250k walk from Athea to Dublin is in aid of Pieta House (a non-profit organisation providing a specialised treatment programme to prevent suicide and self harm). Mike Hayes, Templeathea and Tom Moran, Toureen & Dublin will be heading the walk and as many as possible are asked to come out and lend their support even by walking the first few miles with them. There will be collection buckets en-route for anyone who wants to donate and sponsorship cards are on sale in all the local outlets in Athea and elsewhere. Those who intend to walk for a day or more have to register for health and safety reasons and you can do this by contacting Mike Hayes on 087-7751386 or Caroline O’Connell on 087-6643307. We wish all taking part the very best of luck.
