The Tomathon Sets off
The atmosphere was electric on Tuesday morning at the National School in Athea where a crowd had assembled for the start of the ‘Tomathon’. There was music, song, dance and craic before getting down to the serious business of setting off on the 250k walk to Dublin in aid of Pieta House.
Brendan Grace had everybody in stitches as he called on Tom Moran to say a few words. Tom thanked everybody involved in organising the event and said that they had already raised €50,000 and hoped to double that by the end of the walk.
Vintage Rally
The Vintage Rally takes place on this coming Sunday, September 16th. There will be lots of entertainment with tug of war, sheaf tossing, music and a barbecue at the Top of the Town from 5 to 6.30pm. So hopefully the weather will be favourable and there will be a big crowd in Athea on the day. There will also be a fundraising Irish night in Collins’ Bar on Saturday 15th.
Coffee Morning
The annual Coffee Morning in aid of Milford Hospice will take place in the Con Colbert Memorial Hall on Thursday, September 20th from 9.30pm. Your support for this very worthy cause will be very much appreciated.
