CUP FINAL TOMORROW NIGHT

 

Tomorrow night sees our Junior As play their last game of the season and it’s a big one when we play Carrig Celtic in the Division 1 League Cup Final in Knockdown. Kick off is at 7.30pm. This is our second season in succession to reach this cup final and we look forward to our meeting with the league winners. So 7.30pm tomorrow night in Knockdown is the place to be. Naturally we will be looking for big support and a good contest is envisaged for this eagerly awaited cup final between ourselves and our near neighbours. See ye there .

 

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

 

Athea Utd will hold its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, June 16th in The Memorial Hall at 8.30pm and all are welcome. The club would like to hear from any persons out there who would like to get involved with the club as new members are always especially welcome. More details nearer the time.

 

 

AWARDS NIGHT 2011

 

Athea Utd will hold its Annual Awards Night on Friday, June 8th at The Top of the Town. This in the social highlight of the year and is always a night to remember for the many teams and players who wore the blue and white with pride during the past season. More details nearer the time.

Eflow FAI SUMMER SOCCER SCHOOLS 2012

 

The time has come again to start thinking of what to do for the summer even though it sounds like a long way off. Again this year Athea Utd will be one of the hundreds of venues throughout the country that will be hosting a FAI Summer Soccer School which this year will be sponsored by eFlow An Post and will be known as the eFlow Summer Soccer Schools 2012. This years programme will run nationwide from July 2nd to August 31st.

The Athea Utd camp will again be held at The Vales and will run from Monday July 23rd to Friday July 27th so keep these days looking free for the eFlow Summer Soccer School at The Vales. The camps are open to boys and girls from 6 to 14 years of age and the camp will run daily from 10.30am to 3pm.

CHILD PROTECTION –

Child protection is paramount and at The Eflow Summer Soccer School at The Vales, and like all camps nationwide all coaches will be FAI accredited and all will be Garda Vetted.

CAMP GEAR –

All participants at the camp will receive a full Umbro kit as well as a backpack and football as well as a certificate of participation.

Bookings taken before June 15th will be €89 and after June 15thbookings will be €99.

DISCOUNT –

There is also a family discount and you can get €10 for a second child,

€20 for a third, €30 for a fourth and €40 for a fifth.

Our U8’s travelled to a blitz on Friday evening last in Dromcollogher. This was their second blitz of the year, in what was a warm evening and watched by a good number of spectators who had travelled. The team played matches against St. Kieran’s, Dromcollogher/Broadford and Knockaderry. The standard of football played in each match was very promising with good passing movement and frequent scoring, this young team held their own with each of their opponents. We would like to thank Dromcollogher for hosting the blitz. Training:
U14’s Tuesday 5th of June:
Training continues Tuesday evening 5th of June for our U14’s from 6:45pm to 7:45pm in Páirc na nGael. Players are asked to be at the field for 6:40pm.
U12’s Wednesday 6th of June:
Training continues next Wednesday evening 6th of June for our U12’s from 7pm to 8pm in Páirc na nGael. Players are asked to be at the field for 6:55pm.

U6’s,U8’s & U10’s Friday 1st of June:
Training for U6’s, U8’s & U10’s continues this Friday evening 1st of June from 6:30pm to 7:30pm in Páirc na nGael.

Registration:
If there is any child that still wants to register they can still do
so. The cost of registration is €25 for one child and €40 for a family of 2 or more. A refund amount of €10 will be offered to parent(s) who help out the club with fundraising during the year. For any child who will be registering with the club for the first time it will cost €15.

Kelloggs GAA Cúl Camp:
Once again this year the Cúl Camp will be taking place in Páirc na nGael from Monday 9th of July to Friday 13th of July.
Kelloggs GAA Cúl Camps provide boys and girls – between the ages of 6 and 13 – with an action-packed and fun-filled week of activity during the summer holidays which revolves around maximising enjoyment and sustaining participant involvement in Gaelic Games. Each child receives a FREE Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp Kit and Kit Bag. The Cúl Camps
will run from Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 2.30pm. Coláiste Ide agus Iósef;
Congratulations to Dylan Griffin and Thomas Sexton who were both members of the Coláiste Ide agus Iósef football team who won the County U16 “A” final with a comprehensive victory over Castletroy college in Mick Neville park recently.

Sympathy:
The club would like to extend its sincere sympathy to Lillian O’Carroll and all the Fitzgerald family on the recent passing of Mossie Fitzgerald. May he rest in peace.

Junior B
Athea 0–7 St Kieran’s 3–10
We lost to St. Kieran’s in Athea on Thursday night last in what was a beautiful evening for football. This was our fourth and final league game as we didn’t qualify for the knockout stages. Over the four games we used a total of 33 players some of whom hadn’t played for a few years. The first round of the West Championship is fixed for Saturday night June 16th against Feenagh/Kilmeedy and we could have a few more players by the time that comes around. The other teams in our group are Dromcollogher/Broadford, Cappagh and Knockaderry.  Team: Donal Woulfe, Colm Hassett, Sean Ahern, Mike Ahern, John Geoghegan, Raymond Brouder, Liam O’ Brien, Neilus Hunt, Cillian O’ Connor, Eoghan Nash, John Cotter, Emmet White, Maurice Hayes, Dan McMahon, Brian Ahern, subs all used: Jamie O’ Brien, Paul Matthews and Tony Missorici.

1st Club Draw

Our first Club Draw will take place this Sunday Evening June 3rd at the
Top of the Town.

There will be eight draws in total held during the year so there’s a good chance of you winning a prize.

There will also be special draw on the night of €1,000 for those members that have fully paid up.

Ticket sales are going well but do not worry if you have yet to buy a ticket.  Our draw promoters will still be out and about in your area during the week.
