Important Notice From

Athea Community First Responders

On Saturday 23 June, we are holding a training course for the following topics.

Adult, Infant & Child CPR and Choking along with use of Defibrillator.

This course is HSE recognised and you will be awarded a certificate from Irish Heart Foundation upon successful completion.

There are 2 time slots available: 09:00am to 1:00pm and 2:00pm to 6:00pm.

Course is available to any person aged 16 or over.

Something to ponder!!

Athea Parish is a long way from Limerick or Tralee hospital so immediate CPR and prompt use of a Defibrillator gives the victim of a Cardiac Collapse a much better chance than doing nothing while waiting for an Ambulance to arrive.

If interested please contact Sean Liston on 087 258 9872 after 6pm in the evening.

Athea Tidy Towns

Tidy Towns is now in full swing again after a lapse of a few years. Our newly formed committee are very enthusiastic and morale is high within the group! Athea once held third place in the competition in Limerick behind Adare and Galbally and we have the potential to attain this title soon again. But to achieve this we need the help and support of all residents in the village.

So with this in mind we plan to call to all houses within the speed limits next week and will be respectfully requesting assistance in our efforts. We will also be offering the chance to enter our local garden and floral competitions.  Remember ‘Many hands make light work’.

Church Gate Collection

The annual Fine Gael Collection will be taken up at all Masses this coming weekend Sat. 9th/Sun. 10th June.

IS YOUR COMMUNITY READY FOR THE SWITCH TO DIGITAL:

Those who receive their television signal from an aerial must take action before October 24th 2012 or risk their screen going blank when Ireland makes the switch to digital television.  The Community Outreach Digital Switchover Programme is now operating across the county and aims to ensure that everyone is prepared for the switch and is specifically targeting older people living alone, those with literacy and other learning difficulties and those with few social networks.

The initiative is heavily reliant on the Irish tradition of caring for our neighbours and we are asking communities to look around and help identify those locally who will need a little assistance and make sure that they get it.

For further information contact Clint at West Limerick Resources on 069 66295 or Annette at Ballyhoura Development on 063 91735 or Keith at Paul Partnership in the city on 061 419388.
