Matches:
U10’s:

Monday 14th of May:
Our U-10’s played their first Blitz of the year when they travelled to Rahenagh to take on teams from Feoghanagh/Castlemahon, Kileedy and Monagea. We had a great turn out of 22 children all wearing the maroon and white of Athea and a large number of parents and family who had travelled on the night. We divided the children into two teams and both teams played three games each. Despite the cold and wet weather both teams did extremely well, with all the boys and girls putting into practice everything they have learned at training. They showed great skill with their catching, kicking, soloing, hand passing and point taking. We now look forward to our next blitz in a months time and hopefully we will have a large number of children once again as no doubt they will continue to improve as the year moves on. Team:  Aidan
Curry, Sarah O’Connor, Adam Byrne, Laura Dalton, Eoin O’Shea, Daire O’ Shea, Eoin Sheahan, Josh Mulally, Pierce O’Brien, Gavin Ambrose, Luke Gleeson, Thomas McEnery, Jack Hunt, TJ Hunt, Andrew O’Riordan, Rhys Keily, Paraic Enright, Denise Carmody, Jack McCarthy, Amy Ryan, Alex McEldowney & Brandon Finucane.

Junior B
Athea 0–9  Mountcollins  2–8

This was a very entertaining game played in Mountcollins on Tuesday night last, when we had 19 players on duty. We started very well and raced into a 3 point lead but Mountcollins fought back and by half time they led 1–7 to 0–7. Raymond Brouder gave a man of the match display in that first half and also shining were John Geoghegan, Cillian O’Connor, Neilus Hunt and Brian Ahern. The second half was a much tighter affair with defences on top, our goalie Donal Woulfe made a couple of outstanding saves to deny the opposition. John Cotter got the score of the match with a fantastic left legged effort from 35 meters after a mazy solo run to leave us just a point behind 0–9 to 1–7 with 15 mins left. Mountcollins finished the scoring with a late goal as we attacked at every opportunity leaving gaps at the back. Overall we played some good football and it was good to have a few guys back who haven’t played football in a while. Next game is against
St. Kierans at home more details later. Team:  Donal Woulfe, Philip Woulfe, Sean Ahern, Mike Ahern, Stephen McKenery, Raymond Brouder, Thomas Sexton, Neilus Hunt,(0-1) John Geoghegan,  Eoghan Nash, Cillian O’Connor,(0–3), Emmet White,(0–1), John Cotter,(0–2), Denis Collins, Brian Ahern,(0–2) subs, Mike Hayes, Dan McMahon, Sean Liston and John Hunt.
