Daisy Kearney, Ballyhahill, accepting her award from Labhrás Ó Murchú at the Comhaltas Convention in Mallow on Sunday last.

Sympathies to Phil Fealy, Ballybunion formerly of Knockdown, and to all the Barrett family on the death of their brother Paddy Barrett in New York recently.

Congratulations to the syndicate, some of whom are from the area, who won in Clonmel with GO HOME HARE last week. There was great jubilation on Wednesday night last when they arrived home!

Congratulations to Daisy Kearney who was presented with a medallion at the Comhaltas Ceolteóri Convention in Mallow on Sunday last. It is the 60th anniversary of Comhaltas and two people out of every county got honoured for their work in promoting the Irish culture; Pat Brosnan in Athea and Daisy in Ballyhahill. Daisy was involved in renewing the defunct Comhaltas Branch in Loughill/Ballyhahill Parish in 1981 and since then has been involved in promoting our Irish culture and tradition. She has done 8 tours with the association; 4 in the USA, 3 in the UK and 1 in Ireland entertaining all with her storytelling inseanchaí fashion. She thoroughly deserves the honour bestowed on her and we are proud to call her our own! Congratulations too to Pat Brosnan, who deserves to be honoured also.

The February meeting of the Ballyhahill Loughill ICA will be held on next Tuesday night – Valentine’s night at 8pm.

Just another week to go to deadline for the Parish Annual and after that it may be too late to be included. Please email, if possible, to [email protected] . Alternatively give any articles, photos, poems to any member of the Parish Hall committee. A meeting will be held in the Parish Hall on this Thursday night at 9pm in relation to the Parish Annual so it would be good to have any articles in before the meeting. Thank you.

The AGM of the Bórd na nÓg will be held in the Clubhouse in
Ballyhahill on this Thursday night at 8.30 pm. Parents are especially invited to attend.
