Happy New Year

To all of you. As 2012 begins there is great uncertainty about our future and where we are headed as a country and a nation. Sadly it is mostly out of our hands and we must, through nobody’s fault but our own, follow the dictates from those who provide the loans to keep our services operating. We, in this part of the country are not the worst off. There is still quite a lot of employment in the area except for the construction industry which has almost shut down. Our biggest loss is of our young people to emigration but we have seen this happen before and we have come through it. So let us look forward in the hope that things will improve and that those who govern our destinies will have the ability to create an environment where jobs can be created and to prioritise the funding from the public purse  so that vital services can be maintained and those less fortunate in our society are cared for. Finally, cut out the big salaries. Nobody is worth €100,00 a year, not even Bertie!!
