Athea Golf Society made history at Newcastle West Golf Club on Saturday last when they won the inaugural running of the Observer Cup beating 10 other golfing societies in the process with a massive total of 284 points, 14 ahead of the nearest rivals. It was fantastic scoring on a day when the weather wasn’t all that favourable.

A great achievement for our local golfers and a fitting end to a good season. Congratulations to all concerned
