SOCCER CAMP STARTS NEXT MONDAY

The 2011 Summer Soccer School will commence next Monday, July 25th at The Vales with the camp getting underway at 10.30am and will finish at 3pm. This time will remain in operation for the duration of the camp.

All camps close for bookings 5 days before the start date of the camp (i.e. at midnight on the previous Tuesday). However bookings after this cut off date may be permitted but only if a camp has some places remaining and/or there is a sufficient number of qualified coaches. Please note that such late bookings will cost €109.

Family Discount: For parents wishing to book one or more of their children on the same mainstream camp the following discounts will apply – For the first child you pay the full amount, for a second brother or sister you get €10 off and for any other siblings attending the same camp you get €20 off for each additional sibling(s) attending the same camp.

Jersey Personalisation: Personalisation is now no longer available for the Athea Utd camp as the start date of the camp is under the two week duration.

What You Get: On the first day of each camp all participants receive their Umbro FAI gear, football & backpack unique to An Post FAI Summer Soccer Schools.

MANAGERS MEETING

We will have a follow up managers meeting this Friday night, July 22nd at the clubhouse at 8pm. One manager at least from each of our teams are asked to attend this meeting.

NOTE 1: At the moment we are still looking for a manager for our Junior A side so if anybody is interested in managing the A’s they can give their to the club secretary on (087)7934417

U/8s on Saturdays at 11am.

U/10s on Wednesdays 6 to 7pm

U/12s on Thursdays 6 to 7 pm.

U/14s on Monday 6 to 7pm.

U/16s on Thursdays at 7 to 8.30pm.

Youths on Mondays and Wednesdays 7 to 8.30pm.

Junior As on Tuesdays at 8pm and Fridays at 7pm.

Junior Bs Tuesdays at 7pm and Fridays at 8pm.

 

TRAINING NOTICE

Again for the coming season there will be a charge for training on the Astroturf and this will be for all teams. For all underage teams it will be €1 while for all Junior A and Junior B players there is the option of a once off payment of €50 payable before the first training session. Alternatively a €25 payment before the first training session and a second payment of €25 to be paid by December 1st

 

ATHEA UTD MEMBERSHIP 2011-12

U/8s, U/10s & U/12s €20 per player.

U/14s €25 per player.

U/16s €30 per player.

Youths €35 per player.

Junior As and Bs €50 per player.

For example a family with an U/8 player and an U/10 player the membership will be €30 while a family with an U/12 player and an U/16 the membership will be €40.

UNDERAGE FAMILY DISCOUNT – There will again be a family discount for families of underage players and for each additional child this will be €10 extra.

IMPORTANT NOTICE – In line with club policy no player(s) will be allowed play for Athea Utd in the schoolboy league or junior league until they have their insurance paid. All managers are to collect the respective insurance and to implement this club policy.

 

REGISTRATION NIGHTS

The club will be soon be holding registration nights for all schoolboy teams, youths and juniors and the dates for same will appear in our club notes very shortly. Watch this space for further details.

Matches:

Friday 15th of July:

U-6 & U’8’s:

Our U-6’s togged out again last Friday evening and played against each other in a match. The boys and girls gave it their all and there was great excitement on the sideline as all the parents cheered them on. All the children did very well especially Rory O’ Mahony, Calum Buckley, Donnacha Barrett and Evan Curry. Our U8’s were also in action against Glin. We had 18 boys and girls togged out. They all played their best to the delight of their coaches parents and spectators.

 

Training:
U-6’s, U-8’s & U-10’s:

There is NO training for the U6’s, U8’s & U10’s this Friday evening the 22nd of July due to the bike race.

U-12’s

Training for the U-12’s continues this Wednesday evening 20th of July at 7pm. Players are asked to be at the field for 6:50pm.

U-14’s:

Training for the U-14’s continues Tuesday evening the 26th of July at 6:30pm in Páirc na nGael. Players are asked to be at the field for 6:20pm.

U-16’s

Training for the U-16’s continues Thursday evening 21st of July at 8pm. Players are asked to be at the field for 7:50pm.

U-14’s: Athea U-14’s are away to Crecora this evening Wednesday 20th of July at 7:30pm. A bus will leave the village at 5:50pm.

Monday 1st of August:

U-16’s:

Athea U16’s are away to Granagh/Ballingarry on Monday evening 1st of August at 7:30pm. A bus will leave the village at 6:30pm.

 

Cúl Camp:

Once again this year we had a very successful week of the Cúl Camp with 50 children taking part. They all received excellent coaching from the 7 coaches who travelled to Páirc na nGael everyday for the week. The weather was lovely, as the kids were put through their paces learning new skills, playing games and having great fun. They all received medals at the end of the week from Limerick footballers John O’ Riordan and Seamus O’ Carroll.

 

GAA Super Camps:
This year the GAA will be holding Super Camps for 13 – 15 year old Boys and Girls. These camps will run for three days, from 10.00am to 2:30pm. The Super camp will take place in Mick Neville Park on Tuesday 16th of August to Thursday 18th of August. The cost of the camp is €35 euro. Each participant will receive a camp jersey. The camps will involve all codes, Football, Ladies Football, Hurling, Camogie, Handball and Rounders. Application forms can be got from Jacqueline.

Feale Rangers:

Well done to Feale Rangers who continued on their winning ways with a great victory over Newcastle West on Thursday evening last on  scoreline of 0-13 to 0-11.

 

County:

Limerick Senior Footballers progressed to the next round of the qualifiers after defeating Waterford by 5 points in the Gaelic grounds on Saturday evening last on a scoreline of 0-14 to 0-09. They will now play Wexford in Portlaoise next Saturday evening at 7pm.

Athea Golf Society

Despite the mixed weather, the competition at Beaufort Golf Club last Saturday was a very enjoyable one. Being a team event, there was great rivalry between the competitors but the last group out proved to be the best with a great score of 67 points.

Congratulations to Gerry Tuohy, Tim Sheehan and Michael O’Connor (Snr.).

2nd place went to S. Healy, P. Stack and T.T. Scanlon on 64 points. Nearest the pin was Michael Flynn and the longest drive was won by Turlough O’Brien.
