Our U-10s took part in a cross cluster blitz in Páirc na nGael on Friday evening last with teams from Askeaton/Ballysteen, Feohanagh/Castlemahon and St. Senan’s taking part. We had 19 players togged out in the maroon and white and they played a total of three games. A great display of football was on show for all the spectators to see as these boys and girls are improving with every match they play. Playing against much stronger opposition namely Miltown/Castlemaine and Fr. They did themselves proud on a glorious afternoon and all received medals for their gallant efforts on the pitch. The club would like to thank Fr. Casey’s for inviting us to take part in the blitz and for the treats all the boys and girls received after the match. A great day was had by all. Team: Jack O’ Connor, Ciara O’ Shea, David O’ Connor, Sarah O’ Connor, Eoin Sheahan, Evan Wallace, Aidan Curry, Jack Hunt, Danny Brady, Rhys Keily & Laura Dalton.

Monday 11th of July:

U-16’s:

Athea 1-08        Monagea 0-05

On a lovely calm evening for football our U-16’s played host to Monagea, but it was Monagea who settled the quickest and were 2 points up after 5 minutes. Soon after James Ryan registered our first score with a well taken point. Monagea came back into it and scored another point to increase their lead again. As half time approached Peter O’ Connor and Dylan Griffin traded points with Monagea to leave the half time score 0-5 to 0-3 in favour of the visitors. In the second half Athea came out all guns blazing and dominated the rest of the match. Dylan Griffin was first on the score board with his second point, before Gary Vaughan found the back of the net with a great goal to put Athea into the lead for the first time. Monagea piled on the pressure but some great defending from our backs and a fantastic save by Kieran Harnett in goals made sure Athea kept on top. Gary Vaughan scored a great point and soon after Paraic Walsh scored two fantastic points to put the game beyond doubt. Just before the finish Gary Vaughan got the last score of the match with another fine point to leave the final score Athea 1-08 to Monagea 0-5.  Team: Kieran Harnett, Jonathan Fitzgerald, Dan Mullane, Thomas Sexton, Jason Daly O’ Flaherty, Roger Carmody, Gary Vaughan, William Sexton, Dylan Griffin, James Ryan, Paraic Walsh, Jamie O’ Brien, Joey Kelly & Jason Dalton.
