Many Congratulations
Well it’s been another few weeks of happy events recently and we congratulate each and every couple and individual who celebrated a happy event.
Congratulations and many happy days go to Maurice Langan, son of Nancy and Mossy Langan, Glenagragra, who on Saturday last was married to Roisín Tuohy of Lisnagry in Adare.
There were a few “birthday boys” also celebrating – namely Sean O’Shea of Templeathea who celebrated his 50th birthday as he was whisked off to Wexford by his wife Maireád for the occasion.
Tommy Kelly of Coole went to celebrate his 60th at the Top of the Town on Saturday night along with family and friends.
Paddy Moore of Hillside Drive is still going strong as he reached “the tender age “ of 87 years on Monday last. Good wishes to all.
Then there were 2 new little babies to be welcomed into the parish also – Rita and Tom Collins of Templeathea had a second little girl Shauna who was christened at the weekend. And Seamus Junior was born to Miriam and Seamus Ahern of Parkana much to the delight of their two girls and a little boy.
Another Athea person then had great luck when their ticket was pulled out for the Big Money Game for next Saturday night. Maura O’Connor of Ballyloughane being the lucky person. We wish her well – I think we should all “rub off” Helen Smith!
Congratulations to all the groups and organisations who last Tuesday night received a total of €100,000 between them from Airtricity – a big crowd attended the cheques presentation at the hall. Athea Foroige Youth Club received €2,500- Athea N.S. got €13,000 and the Colbert Hall got almost €3,000, so in all great news and well done to Airtricity.
Many congratulations also to all of you who supported our recent fund-raising Mangerton Mountain Climb – to our delight approximately €5,000 was raised in total. So we hope by the end of July that between the scrap collection and the climb that €20,0000 will have been cleared off the hall debt. Well done to each and every one of you who gave us scrap and went to the bother of gathering it for us – one last call for any bits at all left out there or any old cars – we hope to finalise the collection at the end of the month. Then we have a great concert in August to look forward to – our next fundraiser.
