Irish Night

There will be an Irish Night in Collins’ Bar on this Sunday night June 5th in aid of the Irish Wheelchair Pool Player’s Association.

Johnny Quaid and Kevin Flynn from the Association will be representing Ireland in Blackpool, England. Your support would be very much appreciated.

News from Athea CFRs

 

Congratulations go to Sean Liston and Mike Hayes for recently passing the HSE Ambulance Headquarters, Cork/Kerry Life Support Instructors programme.

The programme was particularly demanding and challenging. Athea Community Responders team are now further secure for the next two years.

 

Athea Instructors committee will shortly meet to identify two prospective candidates to go forward for HSE approved Instructors Programme. The course should take place over one weekend in mid-September.

PARISH FETE
This, the first Parish Fete will be run in conjunction with St Mary’s Boys school.  A large portion of the money raised will go to support the 22 young people travelling to Madrid for World Youth Day. This trip will be a once in a lifetime experience for our youngsters aged 18+ and we appeal for your support in making the Fete a success.  The Fete will take place on Sunday, June 12 in Fr Casey’s GAA Club from 2-6pm.  Admission is free.   There will be a Donkey Derby, Dog Show, face painting, guess the weight, pegs on a line, twister, jenga blocks, throw the welly, a talent competition with  entry fee just €2 featuring dancing, drama, bands, singing etc. and much more.  We are looking for people to kindly donate the following items.
Cakes (collecting from  June 8th onwards).  Items for auction ( antiques, furniture, ornaments etc.) Unwanted gifts, Bric– a –brac, Books, Clothes in good condition, Turf, Timber, groceries etc.  There will be a manned drop off point at St. Ita’s Hall on Sunday, June 5 from 10 – 1.30pm  Wednesday,  Thursday and Friday 9-11 and 3-5pm.   We would appreciate  help with distributing flyers to the homes in the Parish and they can be picked up at the Parish Office from 8-9pm on Friday, June 3.

 

BANK HOLIDAY HOOLEY
The annual summer hooley in aid of WL102fm will be held at the Devon Inn Hotel, Templeglantine on Monday, June 6th.  Dancing from 9.30pm – 1am to Noel Glynn and Glen Flynn.  Admission €10.  Raffle on the night.
